Throughout the time it has taken us to produce this music video, we have had to make a lot of changes along the way. A lot of them have benefited us in positive ways and we feel that they have improved our music video, album/dvd pack.
First of all we had a few issues with filming as we originally wanted to film in a barn and use hay stacks to add a quirkiness to our video but we soon fond out that there were few barns in the area to be able to use and those that we could use weren't suitable for what we needed it for. Due to this we had to change our storyboard and rethink of some ideas. We eventually decided that we would have the main protagonist in a bed waking up but due to illness and lack of film we were unable to film that part as well.
After a lot of thought and going back to the drawing board we came up with the idea of having Connor, the protagonist and lead singer to show his side of the story and narrate the lyrics and explain them in an interesting way. This idea flowed very well with the footage we had and we soon had most of our music video filmed. We as a group decided that The Night Riots, Remedy could be placed in the genre of performance as well as narrative and we soon developed lots of ideas using the green screen room.
Using the green screen was where most of our problems became evident when we had to film three separate times due to the footage not working on the computer and the fact we over looked that the drum kit we were using was blue and that this would be taken out when we edited it on Final Cut Express. However this meant that we were able to be more creative with our music video and we went back to the drawing board again to come up with some ideas to replace the slots where most of our performance would go. This worked out perfectly because they day we decided to film our location was covered in fog and mist and we all agreed that this effect worked really well with the style of music video we were aiming for. The fog also looked amazing when we edited it on the macs which worked out really well in our favor.
Due to illness of all of our team members we were unable to film some of the ideas we had put down on our storyboard which meant that our storyboard doesn't look a lot like the final piece of our music video but we are all very proud at how it has turned out and we all feel like it has benefited us by allowing us to have a quirkier video then we were originally expected it to be.
